Persons and families represented include Capt. Simeon Baker, Jemima Baker, Isaac Smith, Zebulon Frost, Smith family, Luyster (Luister) family, Coles family, and Townsend family. Items of note include a subscription list to raise money to aid native Indians, ca. 1800; and a request to join the Society of Friends, 1786. Also, correspondence, legal papers, and accounts of William E. Luyster, 1913-1923, concerning business, family, land, politics, and World War I; and papers of Peter L. Van Santvoord, 1934-1967, consisting of notes, lectures, maps, brochures, and related items from course he taught on Long Island history and geography, 1966-1967, his research articles and newspaper columns, other clippings, genealogy notebooks on the Luyster and Van Santvoord families, and minutes of the Historical and Genealogical Society of the Town of Oyster Bay, 1934-1943.
